Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and scientifically rigorous candidates to lead from the bench as an Associate Scientist/Senior Research Associate in the RNA Sciences Team. The position will focus on plasmid scale up, plasmid characterization and supporting the Translate Bio programs and collaborations. The position will be highly collaborative and give the successful candidate a broad range of experience across functions within the organization.

Job Responsibilities
  • Generate and optimize seed train, E coli fermentation, harvest and cell lysis/clarification, purification and plasmid characterization
  • Prepare buffers and media for plasmid purification
  • Support Translate Bio projects/collaborations by providing plasmid DNA in a timely manner
  • Design and execute decision-quality research, draft SOPs, reports and batch records
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations and troubleshoot mechanical operations when necessary
  • This will be primarily a lab-based position
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • M.S. in a related field (e.g. Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Biotechnology) and 2-4 years of relevant experience in a pharmaceutical, biotechnology, Contract Manufacturing Organization (CMO) or a B.S. with a minimum 4-6 years of relevant experience.
  • Desire to work in a team-first, fast-paced environment, learn new skills, and to efficiently solve problems
  • Attention to detail & meticulous record keeping
  • Must be proficient in generating seed train, fermentation (small & large scale bioreactors) and cell banking
  • Hands on experience in upstream and downstream development of plasmid fermentation
  • Experience in large-scale plasmid purification methodologies including alkali lysis, chromatography separation (anion exchange, hydrophobic/ion pair interaction, size exclusion/Capto Core) and buffer exchange methods such as TFF is a plus
  • Knowledge in PCR, capillary & gel electrophoresis, and Sanger sequence data analysis is preferred
  • Experience in characterization and analytical method development relevant to plasmid DNA is a plus
