Job Summary
The Lab Manger should have experience working in a life sciences lab facility. This position may require certification(s), experience in setting priorities and having the ability to follow the scheduled priorities. The Lab Manager will adhere to lab protocols, as well as follow local, state and federal guidelines. Additional skills include an understanding of HAZMAT in the labs. This position interacts with all departments and requires good communication skills to integrate the needs of the various departments.

Job Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary liaison with the Facilities, IT and EH&S to ensure all needs are met within the Research Laboratory
  • Serve as a point of contact with laboratory vendors and service providers to identify equipment in need of servicing
  • Collaborate with lab personnel and facilities team to understand lab user needs, space planning and the logistics of lab operations.
  • Understand the lab equipment and the need for CMs/PMs; including incubators, microscopes, centrifuges, hoods, containment equipment, etc.
  • Reinforce safe work environment practices with lab personnel.
  • Manage contracted vendors for lab consumables and manage the lab consumable inventory to meet the lab’s needs.
  • Work with the EH&S manager to recommend safe laboratory practices.
  • Reinforce EH&S safety program compliances in the laboratories.
  • Respond to emergencies and lab-related issues, including off hours.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • BA/BS in science or equivalent work experience
  • 3+ years experience working in a laboratory environment
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal applicable regulations relating to labs
  • Supervisory experience
  • Flexible, able to respond to changes in routine, excellent time management skills and attention to detail
  • Service and safety oriented, self-motivated, and proactive
  • Willing to obtain certifications, if necessary
  • Software knowledge - Chemical Tracking Inventory, Microsoft Office, Work Management Systems
