Job Summary
We are seeking a proactive and motivated team player to adaptably support ex vivo efforts as Research Associate I/II (RA) in the Pulmonary Pharmacology group. The candidate will provide and apply their understanding of rigorous experimental design to build ex vivo assays and pipelines to support pharmacological studies. The candidate will work in a collaborative environment to understand how drug products work in animal model systems, both in vivo, ex vivo, and the subsequent implication on in vitro studies.

Job Responsibilities
  • Optimize protocols for tissue digest with a focus on downstream cellular and molecular characterization. 
  • Drive efforts to culture primary cells from in vivo tissues
  • Perform cell biology/microscopic methods to assess function and activities of drug products
  • Molecular biology skills such as RTqPCR, western blot, and ELISA, a plus
  • Assist in organizing study protocols, mapping experimental controls, documenting wet-bench methods, and data analysis. 
  • Assume additional responsibilities as assigned.  
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • 1-2 years of experience in tissue handling and processing for downstream cell isolations and functional characterization of cellular populations
  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology or similarly related fields 
  • Experience in tissue digests from lung and tracheal explants from mice and rats 
  • Experience in multi-color flow cytometry (must be 3+ colors) 
  • Prior experience in maintaining primary cell cultures 
  • Independently interpret experimental data and collaboratively troubleshoot techniques 
  • Independently manage documentation for methods, protocols, and data storage
