Job Summary
Translate Bio is a clinical stage biotech developing mRNA therapies to transform the lives of patients suffering from severe diseases with high, unmet clinical needs.  We are seeking highly motivated and scientifically rigorous candidates to lead from the bench as a Senior Research Associate in the RNA Sciences Team. The position will focus on DNA synthesis, DNA characterization, and supporting the Translate Bio programs and collaborations.  The position will be highly collaborative and give the successful candidate a broad range of experience across functions within the organization.

Job Responsibilities
  • This will be primarily a lab-based position
  • Responsible for Synthesis, purification, and characterization of plasmid DNA
  • Support high throughput DNA synthesis and purification efforts
  • Support platform projects by performing assays including capillary & gel electrophoresis
  • Independently design and execute decision-quality research
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, and recommendations to management and other stakeholders
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • B.S or M.S. in a related field (e.g. Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Biotechnology)
  • 8+ years (B.S.) or 1-3 years (M.S.) of pharmaceutical/biotech experience
  • Desire to work in a team-first, fast-paced environment, learn new skills, and to efficiently solve problems
  • Attention to detail & meticulous record keeping
Preferred experience and skills
  • Molecular biology: Must be proficient in different cloning techniques including Golden Gate, Gibson Assembly and restriction-based cloning. Independently design expression vectors, primer design, PCR optimization, qPCR, capillary & gel electrophoresis and Sanger sequence data analysis. Experience with bioinformatics search tools like NCBI BLAST, Uniport etc., DNA sequence analysis and design software like Vector NTI or Geneious is highly preferred. 
  • Experience with high throughput and small-scale bacterial culturing and plasmid extraction methodologies
  • Experience in analytical method development relevant to plasmid DNA is a plus
