Job Summary
Translate Bio is seeking a Scientist or Sr. Scientist to join our liver pharmacology team. The individual in this role will contribute to drug discovery efforts at Translate Bio, particularly focused on liver diseases with high unmet need. He/She will conduct hands-on research to identify and validate new target opportunities and contribute to our understanding of liver drug delivery and efficacy. The candidate should have experience designing and conducting in vivo studies using a variety of rodent models.

Job Responsibilities
  • Designing and conducting pharmacology studies
  • Establishing sample collection techniques and methods for downstream readouts
  • Coordinating with CROs and internal teams to ensure on-time success 
  • Contributing expertise to key preclinical programs and platform development
  • Generating robust, thoughtful data to enable decision making and innovation
  • Reviewing study protocols; compiling and analyzing data; documenting results and observations; and drafting technical reports 
  • Presenting plans, progress, and risks at various levels 
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in pharmacology or a closely related field, plus >2 years of post-degree experience in academic or industry setting
  • Experience performing in vivo pharmacology studies in animal models of liver disease.
  • Experience with breeding and colony maintenance of transgenic mouse strains
  • Demonstrated ability working with and analyzing liver tissue. Analysis includes extracting protein and RNA, cell dissociation/enrichment, and flow cytometry.
  • Experience in therapeutic discovery with an emphasis on hepatobiliary research
  • Knowledge of liver metabolic functions, biomarkers of liver injury, nuclear hormone receptors, bile acid synthesis, and drug uptake in hepatocytes and other cells of the liver.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with CROs
  • Desire and ability to work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment
